WCRP Digital Earths - Global Hackathon

NSF NCAR will host the US-Central “node” of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Digital Earths Global Hackathon, a globally distributed event designed to advance the analysis and development of high-resolution Earth-system models.

This event, taking place from May 12 to 16, 2025, will gather participants to collaborate on hacking, bug-fixing, and learning in a dynamic, hands-on environment. This hackathon is part of the larger WCRP effort to push the boundaries of climate system modeling and digital innovation globally. The US-Central node will be hosted at the NSF NCAR Foothills Laboratory in Boulder, Colorado.

Registration information for the NSF NCAR node and other information specific to the event taking place at NSF NCAR is found on our webpage. Registration is for in-person participants only and due by: Wednesday, April 23rd. Note: Late in-person registration is not accepted.

Limited participant travel support is available. Applications are due Friday, March 21

The hackathon is not just at NCAR or the US! There will be other hackathon nodes around the world including two others in the US. Each node has its own registration page. See the WCRP event page for details.
