So excited to see this meeting! Thanks for organizing.

Support the development of domain-specific geoscience packages

Can you elaborate on this in relation to the “Group work” sessions? Will the sessions be open for hack/sprint type activities proposed by community members, or will the projects be pre-determined? I’ve chatted with a few OSS communities I’m in (e.g. earthaccess, icepyx/hackweek) about scheduling some sprint/hack time before or after AGU and we’re wondering if this would be a forum we could make a pitch to or if we should organize our own event.

The google form linked above has a section for proposing a topic for a breakout group.

I say if it’s related to pangeo at all (e.g. uses xarray etc. and is geosciences) then the more the merrier!

100% agree with Tom - would be great to have groups working on earthaccess and/or icepyx/hackweek!

@maxrjones can you post the link to the form responses so we can see what topics are already proposed?

Here’s a spreadsheet containing proposed topics. I can share the full form responses with other organizers but don’t plan to make it public since we collect contact info.

Excited to announce that we’ll be hosting the post-AGU Pangeo meeting at the Development Seed offices in Washington DC, which is right across from the street from the convention center.

Thanks to EarthMover for providing lunch for the event :tada: Both of these in-kind contributions have been approved by the steering council following Pangeo’s sponsorship policies.

We’ve made a new registration page to make it easier to send information to attendees - please register on this luma page :rocket: :earth_americas: I’ll add information for existing registrants later this week

Hi Max @maxrjones , I am trying to get ahold of you to discuss an accommodation and I cannot figure out how to send you a private message. Can you send me an email at myoungs@umd.edu?

sorry about that - I should’ve provided instructions. For future reference, if you go to Profile - maxrjones - Pangeo, you should see a Message icon. I’ll send you an email though

Thanks for the email, I don’t see a message icon. Am I being completely dense?

Am I being completely dense?

This is how it is supposed to look:

Not sure how the big message button disappeared for you. Actually, I think that’s related to you having signed up very recently (basically, the spam protection trust levels of discourse). Once you interact a bit more (can even be passive, I think), you should be able to contact other people.

Thanks for this explanation, Justus! I didn’t realize there was a restriction on DMs either. If anyone else runs into this issue, I can be reached at max at developmentseed dot org.
