Request for Connections

Hi @jlreid28! The CNG slack that Jason mentioned is great.

Here are some entry points to Pangeo that you might be interested in:

  • Join the weekly Pangeo community meetings. I haven’t been able to attend recently due to conflicts during the summer, but there are a few folks that attend weekly. The meeting’s attendance will also pick up again in the fall.
  • Join a working group (listed nearer to the bottom of the meetings page. Out of those, I think the distributed array working group and the virtualizarr coordination meeting are the more active currently. I’d be glad to chat about the virtualizarr meetings and what to expect from the calls ahead of time if you’re interested in that topic.
  • Present a showcase. I’m going to start organizing the fall showcase series next month. If you’re interested in presenting on the Common Cloud Framework or another topic of interest I think folks could learn a ton and appreciate your contributions.
  • Join a Pythia hackathon - Pythia is the education oriented Pangeo initiative. While the deadline was a few days ago, maybe they’d accomodate a late application if you’re interested :crossed_fingers: I expect everyone attending the hackathon will share your enthusiams for these tools
  • Attend a social event at a conference. Pangeo often has social hours, birds of a feather sessions, or workshops at major conferences, which can be a great chance to meet people. If you are attending a conference, you can also post an announcement to see who else is around to organize your own gathering of Pangeo enthusiasts.

I’d also be glad to chat more if you’re interested, feel welcome to send me a DM if you want to find a time to chat.
