About Salient Predictions
We help farmers, energy generators, and insurers make better decisions with exceptionally accurate 2-52 week weather forecasts. Our award-winning machine learning is grounded in decades of research at MIT/WHOI to produce actionable insights. Job Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer you will collaborate with scientists to deliver the right insights to our customers reliably and scalably:
- Build a decision-support platform that connects customers to our advanced analytics with novel insights and solid reliability
- Accelerate Salient’s scientific team by enabling world-class machine learning workflows
- Architect a software environment built on solid engineering principles
- Establish quality and devops processes for reliability and efficiency
- Interface with the Product and Business teams to prioritize initiatives so we can deliver the most relevant tools

- Boston region preferred
- US remote OK
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commercial results in at least two disciplines:
- Front-end JavaScript libraries (e.g. React, jQuery)
- Visualization and mapping tools (e.g. Leaflet, D3, Plotly)
- Server-side web frameworks (e.g. Flask)
- Cloud platforms (e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure)
- US work authorization (no visa sponsorship)
Additional Qualifications:
- Familiarity with our domain-specific tools:
- Geospatial data (e.g. NetCDF, GeoTIFF, GeoJSON, PostGIS)
- Earth science (e.g. xarray, Dask)
- Deep learning (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Knowledge of source control, issue tracking, testing/CI, orchestration
- Previous experience with startups, agile/scrum, software teamwork
