Pangeo DNS Outage July 4, 2024

The DNS servers for pangeo.io and pangeo-forge.org use the free service at https://dns.he.net/.

Yesterday this service experienced an outage, which caused all pangeo.io domains (including this forum) to become temporarily inaccessible:

This incident also highlighted the fact that the bus factor on this particular aspect of Pangeo is very small (just me afaik). Does anyone else have the credentials for the HE account? Would anyone from @steering-council be interested in volunteering to share this responsibility?

I do have access to that account on dns.he.net and can help out as needed.

I don’t have any history or credentials with this service but happy to back up @TomAugspurger to get that bus number up! If someone can send dot points and details I can action?
