Join us Wednesday, November 11, 2026 at 12 PM EST for the next Pangeo showcase presentation!

Abstract:

We’re working with scientists from ESA’s Polar Science Cluster to build and share Antarctic data cubes using research datasets developed by the ESA science communities.

In this talk I’ll share how we’re using the Pangeo stack to transform datasets into cloud-native formats, working on best practices for access and storage with the community, and combining data from different sources into analysis-ready GeoZarr cubes. We have detailed notebooks for exploring this data available here: Antarctica Datacube Hackathon - Antarctica Datacube Hackathon !

This is part of ESA EarthCODE’s wider initiative to develop data collections ( Earth Science Data Collections | EarthCODE ) from research published in the Open Science Catalogue ( Open Science Catalogue ).

If you’re a researcher or research engineer interested in using or contributing to these collections, join us at the upcoming ESA EarthCODE Hackathon at ESA ESRIN (30 November - 4 December). The event brings together scientists and developers from the Polar, Ocean and Carbon clusters to work hands-on with the data, develop new tools and workflows, and collaborate across disciplines. Registration closes 30 October!

Agenda:

  • ~15 minutes - Showcase presentation
