Abstract: The ESGF Virtual Aggregation is an extract, transform and load data workflow and companion dataset that aims to enhance data analysis capabilities, facilitate data accessibility, and advance the sharing and reuse of scientific climate data stored in the Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF). The ESGF holds several petabytes of data distributed among data centers worldwide and the ESGF Virtual Aggregation enhances the federation beyond file search and download by providing out-of-the-box virtual and remote analysis ready data. The companion dataset serves as a demonstration of a viable implementation of the data workflow, including access to CMIP6 data from ESGF up to 2023.
