As announced the other day on twitter, @jhamman and I have started a new company called Earthmover. Our mission is to empower people to use scientific data to solve humanity’s greatest challenges.
We are building what we see as a key missing piece of infrastructure for the Pangeo ecosystem: a cloud data lake for scientific data based on the Zarr data model.
We are looking for two engineers to join the team.
What we’re looking for
We’re hiring two founding engineers to help us build our first product. We’re looking for exceptional individuals who bring deep expertise in their domain and that can wear many hats as our startup learns and grows.
We’re looking for engineers who can take ownership and make decisions on their own while also working collaboratively with the rest of the team. If you already have experience building a startup, that’s a big plus.
We expect all developers on our team to write well-designed software with maintainability, extensibility, and performance in mind. Top-notch testing and technical writing (documentation) are also core requirements.
We will be writing a lot of Python and JavaScript at Earthmover. Experience with other languages and frameworks (e.g. Rust, Terraform) is a huge plus.
Most of all, we’re looking for individuals who can help us build out our team. While these are our first two hires, they will certainly not be our last, and we’ll be looking to our founding engineers to help shape our future engineering teams.
Working at Earthmover
We’re a small, all-remote team based in the US. Above all, we aim to provide a supportive workplace where everyone can do their best work. We offer a competitive salary and stock options, ample vacation/holiday time, and standard benefits (medical, dental, etc.).
Since we’re all working remotely, we all get a laptop (Macbook Pro or similar), an external monitor, keyboard, and whatever else you need to get your work done. We do regular offsites to provide a time for the team to work synchronously in person.
